1. Overseeing the funeral arrangements

This topic can sometimes produce some heated discussions. Stay calm and remember everyone is grieving, however, there needs to be one person to oversee in case anyone needs help in fulfilling the necessary tasks.

Come to an agreement in distributing the tasks amongst everyone so all can participate. There are enough responsibilities to go around.

2. Choose a Funeral Director and a Funeral Home

Make sure they are active members of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Cremation Association of North America they should be members of both if they're serious and well reputable.

This protects you as a consumer because they are required to abide by ethical standards that sets them apart from the competition...these standards raises the bar for the industry as a whole.

This by no means indicates that the price will be more. In fact, it protects you as a consumer. If a complaint is made, it's put forth to a Professional Conduct Committee. Find Funeral Homes in your area

3. Preparation for the Funeral Wake

For the funeral wake If you're preparing a funeral for a friend maybe these popular funeral ideas will be more suitable.

At this stage, a decision to either purchase or rent a funeral casket, choose a funeral dress or suit for the viewing of the casket, funeral flowers , articles needed to personalize the wake, seating arrangements for the family and guests (decide if there will be a receiving line or if casual entry), schedule the arrival time of the ceremony officiator.

4. Preparation for the funeral ceremony

Decide who will carry the coffin to the hearse, some friends or family members may want to contribute) to proceed to your religious institution.

Most of your decisions will be made with your ceremony officiator such as the choice of a funeral song or funeral music to be played during the ceremony, funeral poetry or funeral eulogy (see different types of funeral messages that you can use during the ceremony or create your own then decide who will deliver these messages.

At the end of the religious ceremony an announcement is made for either the location of the burial or where the reception will be held.

5. Reception

There's a variety of options available to you in this area. A reception can be anywhere from being very short and simple for instance serving coffee, tea, juice with a few finger sandwiches, pastries, cookies to being more elaborate as a funeral diner.

Funeral food that's currently making headlines lately are the infamous funeral potatoes that you can cook yourself. The decision remains based on personal preferences and budget.

Some individuals have come up with the idea of having a buffet in their home, everyone contributed a dish and it gave an opportunity for everyone to extend their support amongst themselves which is an important aspect of the grieving process.

6. Prepare the funeral notice or obituary.

Now that you have all of the general information on the funeral preparations, a funeral notice or an obituary or a funeral eulogy may be published in the local paper. See an example of eulogies for funeral free.

7. Funeral Memorials or Cremation Urn

A funeral memorial is an instinctive way to trace any heritage back to its origin. The conservation of family history is through memorials.

A monument is anything that commemorates, a building or statue". It's a way to remind present and future generations of the accomplishments of previous generations.

Big or small, it's the thoughtful act of a person or group, to perpetuate the memory or heritage of loved ones that counts. See models...

A funeral cremation urn is also another way to commemorate a loved one. View the many models we have on display or build your own urn if you prefer.

8. Funeral Cards

A final step in your funeral preparations and also important in funeral event planning, are the funeral cards .

This is a really inexpensive way to express your thanks and appreciation for everyone's participation and emotional support during such a difficult time in your life.

Often times, unfortunately, people no longer take the time to say Thank-You for the time and effort they've volunteered to make your funeral preparations successful.

Voila! Your funeral preparations checklist is now complete and determining your funeral cost will help keep you focused on fulfilling your wishes.
